Somebody To Die For (Kalijah)

*American Gothic*

I could drag you from the ocean

I could pull you from the fire

And when you’re standing in the shadows

I could open up the sky

And I could give you my devotion

Until the end of time

And you will never be forgotten

With me by your side

And I don’t need this life

I just need…

Katherine stood in front of him in an alleyway in Pennsylvania that day.

“Is that what I am to you? A means of survival?” he inquired of her.

“No. Of course you’re not a means of survival. You looked out for me when I had no one. You’ve given me a second chance now, when no one else will.” She rested a hand on the side of his face. “I love you. Elijah.”

        He turned his head away.

She put her hand down. “You don’t believe me.”

He looked at her. “I want to. It’s my disease. I just keep wanting to believe you, but how can I when, at every turn, you give me a reason to doubt you? I don’t know you. I don’t think I ever will.” He began to walk away.

She stood there for a moment, before catching up with him and putting a hand on his arm.

He looked at the hand on his arm and then her a couple times, which gave her the hint to let go. She did so and he told her, “Goodbye, Katherine.” Then he walked away.

*Always and Forever/I Know What You Did Last Summer*

I’ve got nothing to live for

Got no reason yet to die

But when I’m standing in the gallows

I’ll be staring at the sky

Because no matter where they take me

Death I will survive

And I will never be forgotten

With you by my side

‘Cause I don’t need this life

I just need…

Somebody to die for

Somebody to die for

It was a dismal night in New Orleans, as she lay on the ground, not far from the car crash, very injured. She’d crashed the car she’d hot-wired to get here, into a streetlight pole. Now she was very injured, though she’d tried to get away from the scene. It hadn’t worked though, because she was just too injured to do so. This was the farthest she could go. As she lay there on her back, everything began to go black. She didn’t fight it, since there wasn’t much she had left. Elijah was all that was left in her life.

Half an hour later, when Elijah was walking down a sidewalk, heading home, and was in a desolate area, he smelled Katerina. Curious of why she was in town, he went to investigate, only to find a car crashed into a streetlight pole and Katerina on her back on the ground, injured. Since she was quite injured, he knew that she was human. He also knew her well enough to know that if she was human, someone had shoved the cure down her throat, which meant that she was most likely in town for his help.

He blurred to her side and knelt down. He then rested a gentle hand on the side of her pale face.

“Katerina. Can you hear me, Katerina?” he called to her.

When he didn’t get a reply of any kind, he took his hand away and gently pulled her into his arms. He then pulled the shard of glass out of her lower stomach, and the other one out of her thigh, which had opened up an artery. Then he bit his wrist and put it to her lips, making his blood go down her throat, hoping it would heal her, and that she could digest it.

“Please, stay with me, Katerina,” he pleaded, though he didn’t know if she could hear him or not.

When I’m lonely

When I’m standing in the fire

I will look him in the eye

And I will let the devil know that

I was brave enough to die

And there’re no hell he can show me

That’s deeper than my pride

‘Cause I will never be forgotten

Forever I’ll fight

When her wounds healed, it relieved him and he took his wrist away, which instantly healed. Then he gently picked her up in his arms and headed to the plantation house. There was no other place that he could take her. Besides, he figured that Klaus wouldn’t harm her as long as he asked him not to.

And I don’t need this life

I just need…

Somebody to die for

Somebody to die for

When I’m lonely

And I don’t need this life

I just need…

Somebody to die for

Somebody to die for

When I’m lonely

Don’t go gentle into that good night

Rage on against the dying light

Once home, he gently layed her down on his bed in his room and sat on her bedside, a hand on hers and his other one on the side of her face, waiting for her to wake up, now that he knew that she’d be okay. He was glad that she’d be okay. If anything happened to her while he was gone, he didn’t think he’d ever forgive himself for not being there for her, when she needed him the most. He was here for her now, though. She was human. She needed him. He knew that if he wasn’t there, she’d die soon enough. She had too many enemies, just like his family did. If they found out that she was human and she wasn’t protected, she’d be in deep danger. He had to protect her; he wanted to protect her. No matter what had happened between them nearly a year ago, he’d never wish death upon her. She was the love of his life.
