How Do You Leave The One You Love? (Kalijah)

Summary: Set in S5. Based on the song “How Do You Leave The One You Love?”

*1492-Ball*

We’ve been down this road before

I can’t take it anymore

I have nothing left inside myself to give

Still every time I see your face

I’m falling back into that place

When everything to me feels like the first time

Katerina Petrova was at a ball, being introduced to Klaus and Elijah. Then, after she’d been introduced to Elijah, he was silent for a moment, which made her look at him.

“I’m sorry. You just remind me of someone,” he apologized.

        She did a curtsy.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

He took her hand as she curtsied and said, “The pleasure’s all mine.” Then, after she was introduced to Klaus, he kissed her hand, said something in Bulgarian that impressed her, and kissed her hand.

“Very good,” she said with a smile at him, once he’d said something in Bulgarian.

I want it to be possible

I’m hoping for a miracle

There has to be another way

I don’t want to face the truth

How do you leave the one you love?

How do you rise above it all?

Where do I find the strength to make it

Through tomorrow when you’re gone?

Kat stood in front of Elijah the night she’d given the cure to Elijah back in Pennsylvania. She’d given him a choice, letting him choose where their relationship stood after she’d lied for once to him. Now, they stood in front of each other at the Mikaelson house in Mystic Falls.

“Elijah, please. It’s our turn. Let us, you and I, go on our own little adventure,” she pleaded, realizing he was about to, again, choose Klaus over her.

“Katerina,” Elijah replied, putting a hand on the side of her face. Then she put a hand on his arm and, after a moment, even though it showed that he wanted to kiss her, he instead kissed her lightly on the forehead. Then he told her, “Goodbye.” Then, a moment later, he was gone, leaving her with a broken heart again.

And what do I tell myself tonight?

How can I ever make it right?

How do you leave?

How do you leave the one you love?

I’m so tired of being strong

I’m so afraid of being wrong

But I don’t want to live a lifetime with regrets

So I have to let you go

Walk away now even though

My heart is telling me it’s a mistake

But can I ever set you free?

You’ve been the very heart of me

There has to be another way

I don’t want to face the truth

It was a dismal night, as she stood on the clock tower in Mystic Falls. She was ready to end it all. Elijah had left and Elena had shoved the cure down her throat, making her human. Silas had drank the cure out of her. Now she was dying of old age at a rapid pace. She’d always been strong as a vampire, but as a human, she couldn’t help her emotions. And she didn’t want the pain of dying of old age. Especially, alone. Despite being reunited with her long-lost daughter, she felt alone without Elijah there. She knew he would always be one phone call away when he wasn’t daggered by Klaus, but she didn’t want to have to call him for help. Besides, it would probably be too late by then. She didn’t have that much time left. She was already getting gray hair. And everyone in this town either despised, hated, or wanted her dead. She was completely and utterly alone right now.

She closed her eyes, as she stepped towards the edge of the clock tower.

After a few moments of thinking of how she was going to jump off the clock tower, she had a feeling, which was always something she paid attention to. It was a feeling that she shouldn’t do this, despite how scared she was of dying. So, because of this feeling, she stopped and decided not to kill herself. She decided that there had to be another way. And despite everything, she decided that her best chance of surviving was New Orleans. Apart from Klaus, New Orleans was safe as long as Elijah was around. So, that’s what she did.

How do you leave the one you love?

How do you rise above it all?

Where do I find the strength to make it

Through tomorrow when you’re gone?

And what do I tell myself tonight?

How can I ever make it right?

How do you leave?

How do you leave the one you love?

I want it to be possible

I’m hoping for a miracle

There has to be another way

I don’t want to face the truth

It was a nebulous night in New Orleans, as Elijah left the only bar in town, on his way back home. He’d needed a couple drinks after everything that had happened. He would need many more too, but he wasn’t one to make himself drunk just because of grief, no matter how deep the grief was. He’d lost Klaus to The Hollow, since Klaus had wanted to keep everyone safe, including Hope. That was the price. Now, after everything, there wasn’t much left of the Mikaelsons. The bond, “always and forever,” eventually had broken their family apart. It had taken 1,000 plus years, but it had happened. Now, Elijah was dealing with the loss of Klaus and knew that he would soon lose Rebekah too, because she wanted to still take the cure. Hope hated him for Hayley’s death, so there wasn’t really a bond there between them. His family was apart now and, this time, he knew he couldn’t fix this. He just had to deal the best way he knew how. He didn’t know what to do without Klaus, though. He’d been so loyal to him throughout the centuries that he’d always sacrificed love in the name of family.

Elijah stopped in his tracks half an hour after leaving the bar, smelling the familiar scents of Katerina, human, and blood. He didn’t think she’d be here to cause any trouble, considering a human Katerina couldn’t do much, so he assumed she’d come to town for help. He assumed since the smell made it seem that she was human again, that someone had shoved the cure down her throat. She’d loved being a vampire, so being human again was like a curse on her.

After a moment of debating, he followed his heart for once in centuries, following the scent trail of her, which soon led to an SUV that had crashed into a tree. Seeing the scene, he hoped she was still alive and would be okay. He didn’t know what he’d do if she wasn’t around. They’d always been the best part of each other. And he hadn’t looked out for her all these centuries to fail her now.

        “Katerina!”

In an instant, he blurred to the wreck SUV and was at her side of the car. Then, with vamp strength, he forced the door to open, since it was jammed and dented in. Then he finally could look at the damage to see how bad it was.

How do you leave?

Where do I find the strength to make it

Through tomorrow when you’re gone?

And what do I tell myself tonight?

How can I ever make it right?

How do you leave?

How do you leave the one you love?

How do you leave?

How do you leave the one you love?

He rested a hand on the side of her face.

“Katerina, it’s me. Can you hear me?” he called, hoping to wake her up. When she didn’t wake up though, he knew what he had to do. He had to get her to Freya to be healed. He had to do it quick, because he knew he was going to lose her if he didn’t act soon.

He took his hand away from her face and then gently picked her up in his arms, before blurring to the compound.

Later that night, Freya healing her saved her life. Then, after she and Elijah had a talk, they fixed things between one another and Freya was able to reverse the aging. Elijah and Kat even got back together again.

Forever Love (Kalijah)

Summary: Set in Originals S5. When she comes back to life not long after Klaus and Elijah killed themselves, can she bring them back? If so, what will ensue? Will she and Elijah finally get their happy ending after all these centuries, despite him being in love with Hayley still? Based on Kodaline’s song “All I Want.”

A/N: Pretend that Originals don’t burn and disintegrate after being killed.

*Pennsylvania*

All I want is nothing more

To hear you knocking at my door

‘Cause if I could see your face once more

I could die a happy man I’m sure

When you said your last goodbye

I died a little bit inside

I lay in tears in bed all night

Alone without you by my side

But if you loved me

Why’d you leave me?

Take my body

Take my body

It was a beautiful day in an alleyway in Pennsylvania, as she stood there, watching Elijah walk away. After Elena has said something, she didn’t know what, to him, he seemed to not believe anything she said. Sure, she lied to people a lot, but mostly to survive. When it came to Elijah, she would never lie to him. And as she told him, she loved him. He was her first true love. She was upset and a little offended that Elijah would accuse her of having alternative motives. Her only motive was to get him to give the cure to Klaus, so she would finally be free of him hunting her down. However, she knew after what Elena had said and after she’d killed the last of Elena’s family, she had to earn his trust back. And she knew what to do to do that. She would give him the cure and let him know that it was his choice to choose what would transpire next between them. Deep down though, she was afraid that he would choose Klaus over her, because he was so family oriented. He always chose his family over her. She didn’t understand why he would sacrifice love over family, when all Klaus had done in the past was keep all his family members from having a life of their own by sticking them in coffins if they disappointed him. She wanted to keep Elijah, but she knew he was way too loyal to Klaus to stay when she wanted him to stay with her. Especially, when she knew he was conflicted right now.

All I want is

And all I need is

To find somebody

I’ll find somebody like you

Oh oh

So you brought out the best of me

A part of me I’ve never seen

You took my soul and wiped it clean

That night, she intercepted him on a sidewalk and told him that he was right. She’d been lying so long that she was starting to believe her own lies, but she wanted to remember who she used to be, since she didn’t remember who she used to be. She then gave him the cure and told him he didn’t owe her anything. Then she walked away.

*Mystic Falls*

Our love was made for movie screens

But if you loved me

Why’d you leave me?

Take my body

Take my body

All I want is

And all I need is

To find somebody

I’ll find somebody

Later that night, Katherine went to Mystic Falls to the Mikaelson mansion to find out what Elijah’s choice was. She’d left a note in the living room for Klaus, which meant he was leaving for New Orleans. All she needed now was for Elijah to stay. She’d lost so much. She’d lost pretty much everyone she loved. She didn’t want to lose Elijah. He was the reason mainly that she kept going. Without him, she probably would’ve given up or turned off her humanity centuries ago. Or she would’ve probably just ended her existence, tired so much of running from Klaus.

When Elijah showed up in front of her, since she knew him so well, she knew without words that he was going to follow Klaus in New Orleans. Since Kat was so afraid of him, that was somewhere she couldn’t go. Not while Klaus still had revenge on the mind when it came to her. Elijah could and would protect her from him, but Klaus would probably do unspeakable things as usual. And Klaus being a hybrid, Kat didn’t have much of a chance against him if it came down to a fight. One bite from Klaus and she was dead.

“Elijah, please. It’s our turn,” she pleaded with him.

He rested a hand on the side of his face. It seemed like he wanted to kiss her, but he didn’t. Instead, he just said, “Katerina,” and kissed her on the forehead. He then told her goodbye and, in an instant, was gone.

Kat stood there, upset. She knew it was partly her fault, but it was also partly Elena’s, she felt, so she enacted some revenge on her. She ambushed her in the school hallway and kicked her ass, demanding to know what Elena had said to him while her humanity had been off. Then, when Kat tried to kill her, Elena shoved the cure down her throat. Kat hadn’t known that Elena had the cure in her pocket, so it was unexpected.

Oh

If you loved me

Why’d you leave me?

Take my body

Take my body

All I want is

And all I need is

To find somebody

I’ll find somebody like you

Oh

When Kat woke up, she left town after stealing a vehicle. However, tired of looking over her shoulder, afraid that her enemies would find her and do whatever they wanted with her, she went back to Mystic Falls and asked for Damon’s protection. He’d once loved her the most, after all, and she still loved him. However, if she ever told him that, he’d think she was lying, since she’d lied to him before. Damon didn’t grant her protection though, and when Silas got inside his head, as she assumed he did, Damon tried handing her over to him, but she fled.

After the cure was out of her fully after Silas had fed on her, she came back to life and later, began aging. The plus side though, was her long-lost daughter, Nadia, found her, and they reconnected. And she finally understood Elijah’s blind loyalty and faith to Klaus. She’d do anything for Nadia, but then Tyler bit Nadia. She didn’t ask for the cure though, which she was mad at herself for, because she was so afraid of Klaus. Also, the other reason was that Nadia just wanted her to be happy and not give anything up just to save her. Kat would’ve switched positions if she could, but she couldn’t. She was new at the information that she was descended from Travelers. All she knew was how to body jump, which was why she was inside vampire Elena. She didn’t want to die. However, she knew she would die anyway, because they found out about what she did. So, in the end, she died from the Traveler knife and got swept away by a black mass. Then, the next thing she knew, she was in a prison world and had met Kai. When she refused to work with him to leave the prison world, she was tormented by him, but she survived. She found a way out of the prison world and left.

*Present Day*

As soon as she was out of the prison world and back in the real world, in her own human body, she knew exactly where she was. New Orleans. She had hoped for Mystic Falls. She didn’t know how long she’d been dead, so she looked for something that would tell her what the year was. And when she found a newspaper that told her the year, she knew that she’d been dead for a very long time. Before she’d died, she’d known about Klaus accidentally having a daughter with Hayley, though at the time, Hayley had still been pregnant. She’d known about it, because Sophie had always been a friend to her.

She walked around the French Quarter in hopes of finding out about what had happened. She didn’t know if Marcel was still alive, but she knew Marcel had attempted at getting rid of Klaus but hadn’t succeeded. She could only assume that Klaus had won. She knew Marcel, because she’d met him after Mikael had caused ruins throughout this city. She’d helped Marcel rebuild, but everything else had been his. She’d brought Klaus here, because she didn’t like what Marcel had done when it came to rules. She didn’t believe in killing witches just because they did magic. She also didn’t believe in banishing wolves to the bayou and putting a curse on them. However, after a century or two, she and Marcel had become enemies after she’d tried to make him change the rule about the witches but had failed. She’d also tried to get rid of the rule about not killing or feeding on locals and not killing vampires. She just hoped Marcel wouldn’t do anything drastic. Especially, when she was human. Although, during her time in the prison world, she’d learned how to make her Traveler magic active, so she could somewhat protect herself if she needed to.

After everything she’d learned from Sophie, she hoped nothing else had happened. If anything happened to Elijah or Klaus, since she’d forgiven Klaus finally for everything, she wouldn’t be happy. Sure, they were Originals, but she knew even Originals could get hurt and killed. And she knew that Klaus’ daughter was a teenager by now. She also knew that she was special.

After a while of walking through the streets of New Orleans, she spotted both Elijah and Klaus, but upon seeing the state of them, she knew they weren’t alive. Either she had to find a way to bring them back, she knew, or she had to go to a witch or a Mikaelson.

As she knelt by Elijah, she called one of the Mikaelsons she’d known off and on, assuming he was alive again. After all, all Mikaelsons tended to come back to life.

        “Hello, darlin’,” Kol greeted her.

“It’s been a long time, Kol. I’d love to chat like the good ol’ days, but I’m in the French Quarter. I need a witch, which I assume you have at your disposal, but first, what did I miss? I just escaped a prison world, only to end up here and find Elijah and Klaus both gone.”

“You’re right. I do have a witch. Nik had a daughter with a former werewolf turned hybrid, Hayley. Elijah fell for her and when she died for Hope, it was too much for Elijah. Nik did it to keep everyone safe from The Hollow.”

“Well, I’m not leaving them like that. We’ve always found loopholes before. Plus, I found out before I died that I’m descended from Travelers, so I have magic. And since I had to protect myself from Kai, I learned how to make my magic active.”

“Aren’t you full of surprises, darlin’. I’ll send Davina your way. See you soon.”

She thanked him and hung up, before looking at Elijah. Even dead, she assumed he could hear her.

"I don't know if you can hear me or not, but I need you to come back to me."

Half an hour later, Davina showed up where Katherine was knelt by the two Originals.

        Kat looked at her.

"You came. Let's get this done."

About twenty minutes later, Davina had brought them back and Kat had fed them her own blood.

Half an hour later, Davina had gone and Elijah and Klaus woke up.

"Katerina," Elijah greeted, once she'd helped him up.

"Elijah," she greeted back. Then she added, "Let's go home."

"Indeed," Klaus agreed with a smile.

After a week had passed, Kat had put The Hollow in a prison and she and Elijah had gotten back together. She and Klaus even became friends and she'd reconnected with Kol. So, so far, everything was great in New Orleans.

It was a beautiful day, as Kat walked through the French Quarter, not thinking Marcel would see her, but when she sensed a presence, she stopped. Then she turned around to see Marcel.

"Long time no see, Katherine," he said with a smile, though she knew he was only playing nice.

"Indeed, it has been, Marcel," she replied.

He put a hand on her arm.

"I think you know why I'm here," he replied, talking about why he'd found her.

"Yes. You're here for payback. Go ahead," she replied, knowing she couldn't really protect herself against a vampire. She also knew he wouldn't get his revenge fully, because she knew Elijah would tear his vampires apart if she was harmed.

        "Let's go."

She walked with him, letting him take her to wherever he planned to take her to.

Half an hour later, she was in a wooden chair tied with rope. Marcel had taken her to an abandoned warehouse.

Several hours later, Elijah found out what Marcel did, and went to the rescue. Then, after slaughtering Marcel's vampires and entering the warehouse, he found her.

In a blur, he was at her side. He then snapped the rope off her and rested a hand on either side of her face.

"Katerina? Can you hear me, Katerina?"

After a moment, taking a chance since he knew now what had happened years ago with the cure, he bit his wrist and made his blood go down her throat. Amazingly, it worked. He was happy at that, since this meant that she'd live.

A few days later, she was fully recovered, so they got their happy ending.

Don’t Leave Me Here Alone

It was a dismal night, as a human Kat appeared in town. She’d just escaped a prison world. She was glad, since she knew she had to help Elijah. Since she was descended from Travelers, which gave her magic, she’d been able to look at what was happening outside of the prison world. If she wasn’t too late, she knew she had to save him from himself. He wanted so badly to end his own suffering and be reunited with Hayley, but she couldn’t let that happened. She’d be miserable if she lost him.

She put the ascendant in her jacket pocket. She then looked around, seeing that she was in the town square. Then she saw him not far from a bench, on his back.

        She rushed to his side.

        “Elijah.”

She pulled the White Oak stake out of him. She wanted to break down, but she didn’t. She knew that wouldn’t help. Instead, she hovered her hands over his chest, concentrating on bringing him back to life.

“Come back to me, Elijah. You can’t leave me. I won’t let you. I still need you. You don’t get to die and leave me here alone.”

After a few minutes, she finished the spell. She then used a twig nearby to cut her wrist, and began to feed him her blood, needing to save him. She didn’t care if she died in the process. She’d die for him if she had to.

Elijah was in what appeared to be the woods. He could see Hayley in the distance. He was happy, having succeeded, and was about to join her at their campfire, but stopped. It was faint at first, but then it began to seem closer. He could hear Katerina. She was begging him to go back, saying she needed him and she wasn’t going to let him die.

“Come on. Guilt and grief isn’t reason enough to die. I need you to come back to me. Not just because I’m human again, but also because I can’t live without you. It would break me. I know miss her. I also know you blame yourself. Hayley died willingly to save her daughter, just as I would’ve done for Nadia. It’s not your fault. There’s nothing you could’ve done. Please. Come back to me. Drink,” he heard her add. That’s when he realized that she was right. He also realized that he’d made a mistake in abandoning her. He knew the way she spoke, she was telling the truth and also hurting. He realized that she’d told him the truth all those years ago. Maybe if he hadn’t completely abandoned her, maybe things would’ve turned out differently. And one thing he hated was hurting others. Especially, Katerina. With those realizations, he made up his mind. He turned away from where Hayley was, whom was having a time of her life with her deceased werewolf pack.

What felt like ten minutes later for him, he was back. He didn’t know how long it actually had been, but he could feel the familiar liquid go down his throat. That’s when he let go and looked at her. Then he realized that she’d fed him her own blood.

        “Katerina,” he greeted.

“Finally,” she greeted back, her wrist by her now, where she was still knelt by him. “Don’t do that to me ever again. Besides, you’re supposed to outlive me. Not the other way around.”

He sat up and rested a hand on the side of her face. Looking at her, he could see how much him dying had hurt her.

“I promise, I won’t leave you again,” he promised her. “How long was I out for?” he then questioned, seeing that it looked like she’d had to feed him quite a bit of her blood, in order to wake him up.

“Twenty minutes, but I’ll be fine.”

Later, her wound was taken care of, she helped him get through losing Hayley, and they got back together again.

The Destruction of The Hollow And Newfound Love

It was a dismal night, as a human Katherine appeared. She realized that she was in Mystic Falls. That was good. Maybe she could save Klaus and Elijah quicker. She put the ascendant away. She then started walking, looking for them. She hoped she wasn’t too late. After all, despite the past, she didn’t want anything to happened to either of them. And it wasn’t because she knew that Klaus had a daughter. She cared about them both, despite the fact that they’d both hurt her at different occasions. They were the kind of people that you couldn’t stop caring about or loving, once you cared about or loved them. Not only that, but if they died, so did the few vampires she cared about.

When she saw them on the ground, not far from a cement bench, she immediately rushed over to them. She was upset about seeing them like this, but she knew breaking down wouldn’t help, nor bring them back. She knew she could, though. She was descended from Travelers, after all. While she’d been in the prison world, she’d learned how to make her magic active. Plus, having to deal with witches for her entire vampiress life, she knew a few spells by heart. She knew exactly how to bring them back to life. She knew Klaus would most likely be the hardest one to bring back, since he was always so stubborn, so she decided that she’d start with him. She knew he’d also be angry with her for bringing him back, since she knew why he’d killed himself, but she didn’t care. She just wanted him back. Besides, she knew with her magic, she’d find a way to get The Hollow out of him and in some kind of prison.

She knelt by Klaus’ side. She then pulled the White Oak stake out of him and set it on the ground, before resting her hands where his heart was. Then she began the spell by memory.

A few minutes later, she stopped, seeing that the hybrid that she’d feared for 500 plus years and forgiven on her deathbed, was alive. That relieved her, but she knew she had one more job to do. She didn’t know how long they’d been like this, but she knew that he needed blood, as would Elijah. She knew Klaus had changed for the better, because of his daughter, Hope, so she assumed that she could trust Klaus.

Since she didn’t have anything sharp or fangs anymore, she used the next best thing. She used the end of the White Oak stake to cut her wrist. Then she put it back down and put it to Klaus’ lips, making her blood go down his throat, knowing it would work best in waking him up. Plus, he also needed it to get his strength back.

“Come on, Klaus. Drink. Come back to me. We may have never seen eye to eye, but I wouldn’t want you dead. Not anymore. I know you did it to keep others safe from The Hollow and get rid of it, but there’s always another way. You know that. Open your eyes. Don’t be stubborn. For once in your life, do what I tell you to do.”

Klaus was in what appeared to be some dark woods, but it didn’t seem to be any place bad. It just seemed to be late evening. He’d been walking around for a while now, and was by a river, when he began to hear Katerina’s voice. It seemed far away until the place he’d ended up in began to disappear. Then her voice began to sound closer. That’s when he realized what was going on. She brought him back and was trying to get him to wake up. He also realized that she was feeding him. He didn’t know how she was alive, but it didn’t really matter. She wanted him back, and probably Elijah, too. And she always got what she wanted, although he’d never gotten the chance to see her human the second time around. This time though, he would. He didn’t want to come back, but only because he didn’t want to be used by The Hollow to hurt those he cared about.

What felt like fifteen minutes later, he felt the familiar taste and drink from her, but let go after about ten minutes. Then he saw her and got up, as did she after he did.

“What did you do, Katerina?” he inquired, irritated, but not quite angry at her. He knew she always had a reason. He also knew how much she would always care about Elijah. The question was if Elijah still loved her back after Hayley.

“I had to bring you back. I don’t know what I’d do without either of you. Besides, I forgave you on my deathbed. Despite what Stefan thought on my deathbed, Damon was right. It was my fault. It took me being human and dying to learn to take responsibility.”

“Well, thank you for everything you’ve done then. And for your forgiveness. How are you alive though, Katerina? You’re supposed to be dead.”

“When I died, I ended up in a prison world. I just escaped it tonight.”

“And how did you bring me back?” he wanted to know.

“I’m descended from Travelers, so I used my magic. Enough about me, though. I need to bring Elijah back.”

“If you’re going to do that, you should know what happened. He may be harder to bring back. He thinks it’s his fault that Hayley’s dead, but I was there. She killed herself and Greta, a vampire, to save Hope. Elijah didn’t do anything to save her, because his memories were gone. He may not want to come back. Not even for you. All he wants is to be with her. I haven’t seen him like this since Celeste, a New Orleans former most powerful witch,” he informed her.

“Then you’re right,” she agreed. “He will be difficult to bring back. I just hope he won’t fight me too much,” she replied to the hybrid. She then knelt by Elijah and pulled the piece of White Oak out of her ex. Then she did the same that she had with Klaus.

“Come on, Elijah. Come back to me,” she said.

Elijah was in some dark woods. He saw Hayley at a campfire, hanging around with her pack, and he was about to join her, when he stopped. He could hear a faint voice. It was Katerina. She was asking him to go back. He was torn, though. He loved Hayley, but if she needed him, he would always be there for Katerina. And deep down, he would always love Katerina, even as he loved Hayley.

After a few minutes, he finally made his decision. He followed the sound of Katerina’s voice, turning away his opportunity to be reunited with Hayley.

When Elijah came back to the living world, he felt the familiar sensation and drank. After a few minutes though, he stopped. Then he saw Katerina.

He sat up and she helped him.

        “Katerina,” he greeted.

“I know you wanted to be with Hayley, but you don’t get to do that. Besides, it’s not your fault. You didn’t have your memories at the time. Besides, I don’t want either of you dead. Welcome back,” she replied, and got to her feet, in which he did as well.

Klaus stood a little ways behind her. There wasn’t much to say. She’d brought them back. Elijah just had to learn to move on and live.

“Thank you, Katerina,” was all Elijah could say.

Klaus and Kat watched, as Elijah left. Then Kat looked at Klaus.

“I think he’ll be fine in time. He just needs time and space. Now, I need to rest. Bringing two Originals back, and feeding you two, takes a lot.”

Klaus understood and suggested, “How about I get you to the compound.”

        She gave a smile.

        “I’d like that. Thanks.”

Suddenly, everything began to go black.

“Katerina,” Klaus said, instantly at her side, and caught her from hitting the ground. He then gently pulled her into his arms and blurred to the compound. He knew between feeding them and resurrecting them, it had taken its toll on her.

Klaus entered the compound and went to the table that wasn’t far from the stairs, laying her gently down on it.

“Freya!” he called. He couldn’t do much for her, but Freya could help her, and Rebekah could help save her. He knew she wasn’t doing well. He could hear her slow heart and shallow breathing and could see how pale she was from blood loss. And for some reason, he didn’t want her to die. "Stay with me, Katerina.”

Freya rushed down the stairs, only to see Klaus with Katherine, whom she’d known off and on throughout the centuries. Recognizing her, she rushed over.

        “What happened?”

“She resurrected and fed us. She’s lost a lot of blood,” he summarized.

“She needs a blood transfusion then. We need Rebekah.”

Freya healed her wrist. Then Rebekah came home.

        “Bloody hell?”

Klaus looked at her. He knew how much his youngest sister despised Katerina, but she was the only one that could save her. No one else knew how to do a blood transfusion.

“Rebekah, she needs a blood transfusion. She’s lost a lot of blood. We owe her. She brought us back. Please, sister.”

Rebekah was shocked at the news for a few minutes, before saying, “Fine. Get her upstairs.”

Klaus did as told, gently picking her up in his arms and blurring upstairs. He then layed her down in his bed.

While Klaus did his part, Rebekah got what was needed. She then entered her least favorite brother’s room and sat by the human, as she put an ivy in her and then began the blood transfusion, which finished an hour later.

Afterward, she unhooked her from everything and threw the empty blood bag away. She then told the hybrid, “She should be fine. If you need anything else, don’t ask. That was the only time I’m helping her.” She then left.

Klaus sat on her bedside, a hand on hers, his other one on the side of her face, waiting for her to wake up. It relieved him that she’d be okay now. She wouldn’t be dying anytime soon.

When Kat woke up, she saw in bed, Klaus on her bedside, with a hand on hers. She realized that Klaus had brought her to the compound and had gotten her saved. She also realized that he didn’t want anything to happen to her. He cared now, which was strange for them both. They’d never cared for one another before.

        “Feeling better, luv?” he inquired.

“Yes. Thanks. You saved my life.”

She gave a smile, and he smiled back.

“You’re welcome, luv. Anything for you. Besides, I owe you after what you did for us.”

“Well, we’re not the same people we once were,” she replied. She then added, “I think tomorrow we should start finding out how to get The Hollow into a prison. There has to be a way.”

“I couldn’t agree more, luv,” he agreed with her.

The next day, after getting to meet Hope, she worked with Hope and Freya to try and find a way to lock The Hollow up permanently forever, since destroying it wasn’t possible without killing someone.

Meanwhile, Klaus wasn’t in his right mind, his eyes glowing blue. He was in the New Orleans streets, about to approach someone. The Hollow was showing him Hope, knowing she was the one person he couldn’t lose. It was preying on his weaknesses, trying to break him; Make him into the monster everyone knew he was capable of being.

“No,” he said, trying to fight it.

“Yes. I can make you see whatever I want you to. I can make you do whatever I want you to do,” Hope’s image replied. Then it changed to his other weakness. Caroline. Then it said, “Come on. Aren’t you tired of playing the hero? I know what you’re capable of. I know you can be a monster when you put your mind to it. Don’t you want to be that version again? Don’t you want to feel that power again? See your victims and enemies fall? Be triumphant and enjoy their demise?”

The Original hybrid pinned who now looked like Katerina, to an alley wall.

“I won’t let you manipulate me,” he growled at The Hollow, as it changed its image to Cami.

“I’m only reminding you who you really are. Stop letting everyone tell you to be good. Let your demons control you like they used to. Be the fearless monster.” It then turned into Mikael’s image. “Be the abomination you’ve always been.”

After finding a way to dispose of The Hollow, Kat left the compound to find Klaus, hoping he hadn’t done any damage in the streets.

When she found her former enemy, he’d fed on a few people viciously. The Hollow was clearly beginning to get the upper hand. It was still influencing him, too. She knew it, when he pinned her to an alley wall and bit into the side of her neck.

“Klaus, it’s me. It’s just me,” she informed, not fighting him, since she knew it was futile.

After a few minutes, he suddenly realized what he’d both done and almost done. Realizing that, he let go and stepped back.

“Katerina,” he stated, his face back to normal, but knowing that there wasn’t any way to make up for something like this.

“It’s okay. You weren’t in control,” she assured him.

He looked at her with a face that said, ‘what have I done?’

“That doesn’t make it okay. I shouldn’t have,” he replied.

“All that matters is that you snapped out of it and stopped. There’s no need for apologies. Besides, we found a way to get The Hollow into a prison, where it’ll never be able to get out again. Let’s go home,” Kat replied and informed him.

He didn’t agree that there was no need for apologies, but he did go back to the compound with her. He was more than ready to get The Hollow out of himself. He wanted it away from Hope, too. She was his little girl, teenager or not. He’d die for her.

Once home, and after Rebekah had taken care of Katherine’s neck wound, Klaus stood in a circle as Kat, Freya, and Hope did a spell, which sent it to a created prison world. It worked, so Klaus was himself again.

Later that night, she and Klaus were in his room. After all that former hate they’d had, as well as after they’d saved and helped each other, they’d more than grown on one another. They’d realized that this was much more. They loved each other. And so, knowing that, they turned to a brand new, fresh page, and began to make out.

True Love Always Finds A Way (Kalijah)

It was a dismal night in Mystic Falls, as Klaus stood in a circle, stake in hand, and got ready to kill himself. The Hollow was inside him again.

“Don’t, brother,” Elijah pleaded, standing out the circle.

Suddenly, ascendant in hand, a human Katherine appeared outside the circle after escaping a prison world, scathed. She’d been able to see from there, things that had transpired. Now, standing in the present, behind Klaus, she knew it was true.

She magically through the stake outside of the circle and walked around the circle, outside of it still, where they could both see her.

“Elijah’s right. You can’t do that. Your daughter needs you. I’m not letting you die. Or Elijah. You’re probably wondering where I came from.” She looked at Klaus. “Long story cut short. After Elena shoved the cure down my throat when I was an idiot and tried to kill her, figuring she was part of the reason Elijah left, my daughter whom was a vampire apparently by choice, whom my father tore away at birth, Nadia, found me, I began again, body jumped into Elena after Nadia told me that I’m descended from Travelers, and when everyone found out, I got killed by Stefan. I wound up in Hell, became queen of it, and after some turn of events, I got killed again by Stefan to save this town. Then I ended up in a prison world, human, until I found this ascendant. Now, it’s noble of you to die for your daughter. I would’ve done the same for Nadia. But there’s always a loophole. Hope deserves to have her father, when she can’t have her mother. Nadia spent her entire life searching for me, because she had questions and needed answers. I won’t let Hope be an orphan like Nadia was. She deserves better. There’s always a way.” She looked at Elijah. “I may have been in a prison world, but I looked in at time. I know what happened and I’m sorry.” She looked at Klaus. “You have all lost too much, but this isn’t the way. I can create a prison for it. It won’t get out, whether something happens to me or not,” she said. Then, without asking for permission, she magically took The Hollow out of Klaus and shoved it into a prison. Then she sealed it up and concealed it.

Klaus got to his feet when it was over.

        “Thank you, Katerina.”

“Yeah, well, you’re not the monster you once were. Now go. Be with Hope and go get the girl.”

He gave a smile, knowing what she meant. Then he was gone.

She looked at Elijah who looked at her.

“I know you blame yourself. It’s not your fault. Hayley’s death wasn’t your fault. Besides, she died a noble death. She died to save her daughter’s life. I know that’s one of the reasons you were ready to die, but that’s not reason enough to go. Some of us still need you here. I don’t think Hope would’ve gotten this far without her family,” she assured him.

“She’s come quite a ways without me. She doesn’t need me. Besides, I haven’t seen you in years. I didn’t know you needed me. You never called.”

“Maybe so, but only because she had to. You didn’t have your memories. But now she has her family intact. The only question is what you’re going to do now.”

She began to approach. She’d been hiding her injuries with a cloaking spell, but now that it was just her and Elijah, she didn’t hide them. Besides, she knew she couldn’t do it for much longer. She’d been through hell in the prison world.

Elijah noticed that something was wrong. He may have left and, though he loved and missed Hayley, he did and would always love Katerina. If she was in peril, he’d save her in an instant.

He blurred to her side, seeing how injured she was, and caught her from hitting the ground.

As everything blurred from blood loss and her opened thigh artery, she saw Elijah in her field of vision, and saw him bite his wrist, as she felt herself in his arms. Knowing he didn’t know, she knew she had to tell him, so she did.

        “I can’t. I couldn’t digest it last time I was human.”

After she told him that, he knew there was only one thing to do. He had to get her to Freya. He couldn’t ask Hope, since tonight was the full moon.

“Stay with me, Katerina,” he pleaded, knowing he was starting to lose her. He then got to his feet with her gently in his arms.

As everything began to go black, she felt the win, letting her know that he was getting her somewhere to be taken care of.

Elijah entered the compound in a rush, a human and pale Katerina in his arms.

“Freya!” he yelled, as he gently layed her down on the table that wasn’t far from the stairs. He then used his jacket as a pillow for her head. “Don’t leave me, Katerina. Please,” he begged, hearing her heart slowing from all the blood loss, and he couldn’t hear her breathing.

Freya came downstairs to see the scene. Despite her injuries and all the blood loss, she recognized her and rushed over.

        “What happened?”

“She escaped a prison world,” he informed her.

Freya began to magically heal her.

Meanwhile, Katherine found herself in a place she didn’t know. It was dark, and it looked like the woods. Since it was unfamiliar, she walked around and, from a distance, saw Hayley having the time of her life with her wolf friends. Then, what felt like twenty minutes later, she heard some familiar voices. They sounded far away, but she didn’t know how to go ack, despite wanting to live. A part of her was tempted to stay, though. Dark or not, it was peaceful here.

“Come back to me, Katerina,” she vaguely heard Elijah say.

“Open your eyes, Katerina. Breathe. Breathe, Katerina,” she vaguely heard Klaus say.

“Didn’t expect to see you here,” she heard a familiar voice say behind her.

She turned around to look at him.

“I’m just visiting until Elijah and Klaus can get me back.”

“Then you need to go back,” Damon told her. Despite the last time she’d been alive, he didn’t want her dead for some reason.

“I don’t know how,” she admitted, as the distant voices continued.

“Concentrate,” he instructed her. “It’s not your time yet to find peace. You still have at least some people to live for.”

Freya watched them, Elijah trying to encourage her, and Klaus trying to revive her. She didn’t know what to do now. She’d healed her wounds, but Katherine had lost too much blood. Those that could hear had heard her heart stop. Since she’d saved their family, Klaus was trying to revive her with heart compressions.

“Katerina, luv, now’s not the time to give up, sweetheart. Now breathe. Come back, sweetheart. Breathe,” Klaus called to her.

Kat did as Damon told her to. She closed her eyes and concentrated. She trusted Damon, after all. Plus, she wanted to live.

When Klaus heard her come back to life, he stopped and stepped back, letting Elijah take over. It was up to Elijah to take care of her now. Klaus then left the room to let them be alone.

Elijah rested a hand on the side of her face.

“Katerina, can you hear me?” he called.

When Kat woke up, she saw that she was alive, Klaus had gone, and she was on a table, Elijah at her side, a hand on the side of her face.

        She gave a smile.

        “Elijah.”

She sat up and he helped her to her feet.

“I thought I lost you, Katerina,” he stated.

“Well, I’m here now. I’m back and I don’t plan on dying anytime soon.”

“Good. I don’t know what I’d do if I ever lost you for good.”

They looked at each other. Then, it was such a moment that they kissed, which meant that all was forgiven. Now they would be getting back together.
